How We Work
Concerns and opportunities come from the community or the Board.
Priorities are determined by the level of commitment and engagement.
Projects will be developed as we have sufficient resources.
A wise person once observed, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” Other nonprofits have already identified areas of need and developed programs in response to them. Unlike other nonprofits, which each have a specific focus, RatonCDC wants to get the community involved in an effort to identify and address creating new opportunities that would improve the quality of life in Raton.
RatonCDC is a grassroots-driven organization. We seek community input to provide us with guidance and information about the needs of our community. We have sent out over 600 emails to business owners and individuals to solicit feedback. Soon, we will be holding Community Dialogues in which those involved can express their support for specific projects. Our priorities will be the result of the level of commitment and engagement on the part of those participants.
The effectiveness of our work depends on the willingness of concerned citizens to become involved. Change only happens when members of the community devote their time and energy to advocate for that change. It is our fervent hope that the people of Raton will come together in a spirit of compassion and kindness, taking action to create a community founded on caring and support for those who are less fortunate.
Our organization is wholeheartedly committed to creating new and innovative opportunities for those in our community who may be struggling to fulfill their potential. We are passionate about partnering with other agencies and organizations and working collaboratively toward our shared goals. RatonCDC is dedicated to avoiding duplication of efforts through effective communication with all stakeholders. We strive to create an ever-expanding place of opportunities in our community.
